Congratulations to the 2019 College of Engineering’s Teaching and Staff Awards recipients! The awards, which are handed out annually for outstanding work in the college, were announced during the dean’s fall faculty meeting Aug. 16.
Following is the list of recipients along with comments from colleagues and students who nominated them.
COE Outstanding Teacher
Michael Czabaj (Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering)
“Dr. Czabaj is by far one of the best instructors I’ve had. His knowledge and enthusiasm regarding the subject, combined with effective communication, created a very ideal learning environment and experience.”

Jim Skowronek (Teaching Assistant, Electrical and Computer Engineering)
“Jim has been a phenomenal TA in both the ECE and physics departments, going way above the requirements and expectations to help the students succeed.”

Debra K. Williams (Administrative Program Coordinator, Mechanical Engineering)

Milind Deo (Professor, Chemical Engineering)
“Milind’s success as chair and as associate dean is due in large part to his application of his three principles of good teaching. The most important part of these is the first: Milind genuinely cares for students, staff, and faculty. His service to the college and the department has been rooted in that attitude.”
