The Computing Research Association (CRA) is a non-profit organization that connects computer scientists in academia, industry, and government, coordinating research efforts, supporting career development, and informing policy makers about the latest issues in this critical field. The CRA consists of more than 250 North American organizations in its network, including the majority of its PhD-granting computer science programs, as well as major laboratories and affiliated professional societies.
Mary Hall, professor in and Director of the Kahlert School of Computing, has now been elected Vice Chair of the CRA’s Board of Directors.
The CRA’s Board of Directors is dedicated to advancing CRA’s mission, driving strategic initiatives, and championing efforts to strengthen the computing research ecosystem. Hall has served on the Board since 2015 and as an appointed member of the CRA Executive Committee since 2020. She will assume the position of Vice Chair on July 1, 2025.
Hall is a Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Scientist. She has also made significant contributions to CRA, including serving on the BPCnet.org Steering Committee, co-chairing the CRA Career Mentoring Workshop in 2022, and serving on the CRA-Industry Steering Committee since 2021. Hall earned her PhD in computer science from Rice University.
