Homer R. Warner, M.D., founding chair of the University of
Utah’s Department of Biomedical Informatics, died Thursday, November 29,
2012 after a brief illness.

Dr. Warner was a pioneer in the field of
biomedical informatics and helped usher in the modern era of using
computers in medicine.

“His legacy is felt not only in medical technology, but also in the
hundreds of students he taught and mentored throughout his career in his
labs and classrooms,” said Vivian Lee, Senior Vice President for Health
Sciences at the U.
