Summer 2025 Internship, Engineering (3 positions available)
We seek highly motivated and enthusiastic engineering students (Juniors) to join us as interns and become an integral part of the FLS engineering team. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with our global product experts on assignments in the research and development team, engineering, laboratory, project management, or sales support. Successful interns may become part of our prestigious Graduates Engineering Development Program in 2026, a two-years rotational program to accelerate development and nurture our talent bench.
About the role
As a summer intern, you’ll be given a hands-on, self-driven project in any of our Products Business Lines: Crushing and Screening, Milling and Grinding, Separation, Thickening and Filtration, or Research and Development. The development experience may include performing Lab tests, drawing and 3D models, evaluating applications to select proper equipment, troubleshooting, and performing basic system calculations. The goal is to grow your skills, create lasting connections with FLS, learn from the most experienced minds in the industry, and bring your ideas to real-world challenges.

About the department
FLSmidth is a full flowsheet technology and service supplier to the global mining industries. We help our customers to improve performance, lower operating costs and reduce environmental impact. With our MissionZero program, we have set a target of providing solutions for zero-emissions mining and zero-emissions cement production by 2030, supporting a green transition built upon sustainable materials.
Summer interns will work in the Products Business Line department. The Products business line is responsible for the full profit and loss of the products, along with product line management, procurement, engineering, proposal preparation and order execution. Responsibilities include inventory, pricing and margin strategy, driving product developments including guidance and rollout, product technical expertise, general marketing support, and much more.
Your responsibilities:
Execute a project assignment involving any of our products (spanning early research to pilot/commercialization stage)
Perform deliverables involving research and characterization, process/product development, Laboratory tests, analyzing samples and writing reports for customers, etc.
Provide product technical support to sales and customers worldwide, both onsite and online. This includes product sizing, troubleshooting wear life analysis, and condition monitoring reports.
Generate new and improve existing PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, and Excel tools for internal and external stakeholders. This includes technical presentations, case studies, reference lists, etc.
Act as an advocate for continuous improvement of internal processes and enabling technology
Review progress and evaluate results of project(s) across various functional groups
Support Global Product Line Management strategic functions such as pricing, product development, product support, project management, Design engineering and drawing, inventory, sales support, etc.
What you bring:
Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate engineering program in the fields of mechanical engineering, mining engineering, electrical engineering or chemical engineering (expected graduation between December 2025 – July 2026).
Effective communication skills
The ability to absorb and apply knowledge at a high rate.
Time management.
A driven engineering student with a solid track record of achievement.
Positive attitude and ability to work with others in a team environment.
Workplace location: Salt Lake City, Utah (if you live out of state, FLS can provide a stipend for housing)
