Note: The John and Marcia Price College of Engineering provides more scholarship opportunities to students progressing through our program than to incoming freshman – in fact, many of our scholarships are available only to juniors and seniors in engineering.

Emergency Funds

Complete a FAFSA form then apply for emergency funding here. You must be enrolled as a student in order to be qualified to receive funding.

Hakon H. Haglund Financial Relief Fund

The Price College of Engineering is accepting applications for the Hakon H. Haglund Financial Relief Fund, for which students can apply here.

If you are a Price College of Engineering student nearing completion of your B.S. engineering program (not available to computer science majors) and are experiencing a significant or unforeseen financial hardship, the Hakon H. Haglund Financial Relief Fund may be able to help you with scholarships aimed at enabling you to complete your degree. GPA is not a factor to receive assistance from the fund, and scholarships may be renewable based on need and available funds.

Preference is given to those who demonstrate financial need and are serious about completing their engineering degree. Applications are accepted year-round; however, funds are limited. Applications will be reviewed in May for summer semester, August for fall semester, and December for spring semester awards.

John and Marcia Price College of Engineering Student Loans

Eligibility

A candidate must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency in the United States. A candidate must be at the sophomore level or an enrolled graduate student in good standing in a department in the Price College of Engineering at the time of application. Selection will be based on the individual’s achievements and interest in obtaining an engineering and/or computer science degree. Students who receive aid through the Financial Aid Office are eligible, unless their unmet dollar need has been maximized.

Financial Support

Loans are available in the amount of $1,000 to $10,000 per year and not to exceed a total of $20,000. Funds can be used for expenses related to an engineering education. Repayment begins nine months after graduation or withdrawal from a Price College of Engineering program, whichever comes first. Interest at the rate of 5% accrues at the commencement of the repayment period. The payoff period for the loan will be no longer than ten years, dependent on the amount of the loan, deferments, and exceptions made by the Board of Directors.

To Apply

  1. Students must complete a Self Certification Form. You will need to know your cost of attendance and estimated financial assistance. This document must be returned to the department dispersing the loan when you submit your application.
  2. Complete the Loan Application.
  3. Submit the Self Certification and Loan Application, along with the following documents:
      • Resume
      • Transcript
      • Memo indicating education goals and reason for loan request
      • Two academic references (just names and email addresses)
      • Graduation plan from department advisor

For incoming freshmen, the scholarship application deadline is February 1st during their senior year of high school, which means applying early is vital to getting first-year financial assistance.

December 1 – Priority Admission Deadline (application for admission must be submitted by this date in order for a student to be considered for University and College scholarships)
